Theme Telecommunications: Tapping into the Power While reports continue from all corridors that the telecommunications sector is in a slump, this is an excellent time to examine what we must do to set the stage for the rebound. And the rebound will come. Telecommunications professionals are “knowledge workers” and must become more familiar with the history, status and future of the technologies as well as the public policies that guide their deployment. Take responsibility by building resiliency into your career framework. Create a personal strategy to achieve results that change lives and communities for the better. It is not enough just to focus on one’s own discipline, workgroup, or company; relationships, affiliations and collaborations that build and broaden perspectives must also be developed. Think globally while looking into local communities to see what’s missing. Step up to a 21st century leadership model. The need to communicate will not go away and that need fuels this industry. The only thing greater than the desire to communicate is the imagination that makes it happen – and therein is the power. Lend your voices, ideas and experiences to NABTP’s 2003 Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting. |
